INTERACT CLUB

The Interact Club at Locust Valley High School received its charter in May, 1996 and has been an active part of the school community ever since. The club meets on Monday evenings in the school cafeteria and models its meetings after the Rotary Club. Students share a meal and fellowship, and then plan their community service activities for the upcoming week. Often, speakers come to inform them of a variety of service opportunities in the area. Representatives from Habitat for Humanity, the March of Dimes, Ronald McDonald House and the Salvation Army have been among the speakers this year.

The Interact Club sponsored a Blue Jeans for Babies Day
and raised $500 which was donated to the March of Dimes.

The officers are: Donna Malinowski, Brett Berkowitz, Tracy Lizza and Hope Tuck. Margaret Stolworthy, English Department Leader, is the advisor of the club.

Annually, the members are involved in a variety of activities such as the Oktoberfest, Applefest, two community-wide food drives, visits to Ronald McDonald House and the Glen Cove Soup Kitchen, the March of Dimes WalkAmerica and the blood drive.

Once a month members make dinner for the families staying at Ronald McDonald House.
Twice a month the students volunteer to serve dinner at the Glen Cove soup kitchen.
For the second year in a row, the Interact Club has sponsored a blood drive for the Long Island Blood Services.
Members of the club have also volunteered to help build houses for Habitat for Humanity. They helped to build a house in nearby Glen Cove.
Meghan Tyburski was the first person to complete the WalkAmerica last year in Glen Cove. The students will again be participating in this event on April 29
